You’ve not heard ‘surround sound’ until you’ve experienced @Opera_North Parsifal from up in the balcony of @GrandTheatreLS1.
Heavenly. #Wagner #Parsifal— Tony McKenna (@TonyMcKen) June 4, 2022
Extraordinary production, quite brilliant. The first time I have properly understood the ending of Act 1. Gurnemanz, Klingsor, Kundry excellent. Orchestra sublime. An extremely powerful emotional experience.

Interval #1 of Parsifal @Opera_North chorus have already made me cry singing in majestic surround sound from the balconies and boxes of @GrandTheatreLS1 #Wagner #ONParsifal pic.twitter.com/sAcjaRmvjN

Last night’s Parsifal @Opera_North great company achievement. Richard Farnes, orch & chor surpassed themselves & Sam Brown’s staging told the story with ingenious simplicity, using the stage’s height & theatre’s upper levels as effectively as I’ve heard outside Bayreuth ?

Quite amazing. That’s my first thought. Well done and thank you. I never thought I’d be able to approach Wagner at all but I’ve seen ON productions of the Ring Cycle and Parsifal and loved them all!

Absolutely adored it! Thanks to @francis_finlay. All my memories of teaching grail legends came vividly to life this evening. Was wonderful to have the orchestra so fully integrated into the performance and staging. Loved everything and especially the living grail at the end ?

One of those evenings @Opera_North for #ONParsifal tonight. Incredible musicianship from orchestra, chorus & soloists, led by Farnes the phenomenal. Direction & scenography created 360° exposure to score & the strange world of the Grail. Staggering, unsettling, unmissable.

@Opera_north #onparsifal You know how to put on a show! What a great night out. I’ll need a day or two to recover.

I loved every minute of #ONParsifal at Leeds @GrandTheatreLS1 with @Opera_North. Superb orchestral work conducted by Richard Farnes, and excellent performances all around, very especially the awesome Gurnemanz of @brinsherratt. What an absolute treat!

Just out of tonight’s performance. Thank you for a transcendent experience. And for giving Kundry absolutely clear purpose/presence in Act 3. The three of them quietly preparing for everything to change, while sublime music pours from RF and the orchestra. Revelatory & truthful.
